DESIGNED FOR INDUSTRIAL CONTINUITY

Reliable Monitoring Through Disruptions

Communication loss, incomplete readings and service restarts are normal plant conditions. ROBOX EMS is designed to make these conditions visible and support controlled recovery.

⌂Local operation during internet lossKeep core monitoring on site
Local acquisition, history, alarms and browser dashboards continue over the plant network when external internet access is unavailable.
⌁Communication and data qualityMake stale or missing readings visible
Show last update time and quality state for each measurement. Communication faults and invalid values remain identifiable instead of appearing as current healthy data.
↻Controlled service recoveryRecover with checks in place
Health checks and restart handling help restore the monitoring service in a defined sequence and make recovery status clear to the site team.
!Alarm handling that stays usefulReduce nuisance notifications
Apply configured thresholds, delays and deadbands; retain event, acknowledgement and clear states for follow-up.
▤Backup and restorationProtect operational history and settings
Define backup coverage for data and configuration, then document the restoration steps as part of handover and site support.
◷Retention for review and analysisKeep useful detail over time
Set retention around operating needs, with detailed readings for investigation and summarized records for longer-term energy and demand reviews.
Industrial Connectivity

Integrate Existing Plant Equipment

Connect suitable equipment already on site, then extend monitoring to additional sections as needed. Integration details are confirmed during engineering against each device, available measurements and the plant network.

Role-Based Access & Audit Trail

Set individual accounts, role-based permissions and traceable administrative actions around the site's operating requirements.

  • Individual accounts with role-based permissions
  • Separate viewing, configuration and administration rights
  • Protected local and remote access defined for the site
  • Traceable configuration and alarm acknowledgements
  • Only required services enabled within the agreed scope

EMS Scope, Integration & Acceptance

Key considerations when specifying an industrial EMS and evaluating the proposed delivery scope.

What is reviewed before defining the EMS scope?

The review covers the electrical single-line diagram, utility and captive-generation arrangements, major loads, operating shifts and the information required by each user group. Existing meters, CT/PT ratios, communication interfaces and network availability are checked before agreeing measurement points, dashboards, reports and acceptance criteria.

Can existing meters and control systems be retained?

Existing equipment is assessed for the required measurements, accuracy, available registers, communication protocol and access permissions. Compatible devices can be integrated; additional metering or gateways may be required where coverage or data access is insufficient. Integration is defined device by device rather than assumed for an entire brand.

How are energy, demand and cost figures established?

The calculation basis is agreed during engineering: meter counters versus calculated values, CT/PT scaling, import/export direction, time boundaries and demand intervals. Cost estimates require the applicable tariff inputs. Comparison with utility billing must account for differences in measurement location, billing periods and charges; a dashboard total is not automatically a billing-grade figure.

How are communication failures and incomplete data handled?

Data quality and freshness need to remain visible. Loss of communication should not be interpreted as zero consumption, and incomplete periods should be distinguishable from complete records. The agreed design defines stale-data thresholds, available buffering, recovery behaviour and how gaps affect reports and calculated totals.

Does EMS monitoring include automatic equipment control?

Monitoring, analysis and alarms are defined separately from control functions. Load shedding, demand limiting, generator coordination or inverter commands require an expressly agreed control scope, suitable interfaces, interlocks and testing. Connecting a device for monitoring does not by itself authorize or enable control.

What does commissioning and handover include?

The agreed checks cover point mapping, engineering units, CT/PT scaling, source direction, timestamps, communication status, alarm settings and representative report calculations. User access, backup arrangements and operating documentation are reviewed before handover. Any control functions require their own functional tests and acceptance criteria.

How are energy-saving opportunities and results verified?

EMS provides the measurements needed to investigate opportunities and track changes. Savings require a defined baseline and a comparable operating basis, accounting for production, operating hours, weather or other relevant factors. Forecast savings and measured results should be reported separately; installing monitoring alone does not establish a saving.

What is required for remote access and future expansion?

The design identifies local users, remote users, device counts, polling requirements and retention needs. Remote connectivity is configured through the client-approved access arrangement. Additional areas or sites are assessed against server, network and integration capacity rather than treated as an unlimited extension.
